What we've been up to

It was dreary today and a bit wet so we decided to visit the Cat Café.  What a lovely way to spend an hour with a coffee and twelve dopey felines, who plonked themselves on your lap, your coats, your hats.  I wanted to bring some of them home with me.

Port Saplaya - it's made holiday village built around some old docks.  We had spent three weeks trying to find the bus stop in Valencia to catch the only bus out to this place, then we gave up.  In stead we caught the bus to the further end of Patacona beach and walked.  And of course, after all the research, it took half an hour along the coast.  typical.

When we first arrived we both thought it was a bit crass and twee, but it grows on you.  It reminded us of a larger version of the village out of The Prisoner.  We had a fabulous Menu del Dia, and Rod discovered 'Caldoso'. a hot dish of broth and fabulous stock.  Hope he will have a go at making for me sometime.

Blue Sky in Valencia

Amazing Fig trees in a central park.

Sorry went on a bit there!

Not quite sure what this is, the space was boarded up.

I must be doing something right.  Rod bought me another bunch of lovely flowers.

El Puig

And now for something completely different.  We caught the train to El Puig (pronounced Pooch) a small town 30 mins away.  In the centre is an enormous convent, with the town built around it.

Unfortunately the convent wasn't open when we were there.  But if we come back next year, this is definitely one place we will come back too.

On a hill at the back of the town is a ruined castle, totally ruined, but it has wonderful views of the surround countryside and town.

We spent quite a while just wandering the streets - a nice place.

I wonder how long this will stay upright for?
