Lively Sunday

8th January

It's Sunday and I am starting to settle into being in Valencia.  It's taken a few days.

As I said yesterday, they lovely to make lots of noise and have a good bash here.  We were sitting with the windows open when a huge racket started outside.  Well you have to go and have a look.  Today was another parade this time of small marching bands.  I think every barrio has it's own band which comes out at every opportunity to bang drums and blow pipes.

The last lot were particularly noisy.

Then came groups of parents and small children, and realised these were local groups of tower builders.  ooo eeer wouldn't be allowed in the UK.  Not sure if they were the serious ones, eg build the towers ten people high with a five year old on the top.

Then of course came Peruvian dancing men.... of course!

and then the usual walking statues... always worth a look

This one was about 20 foot tall.

Dancing Spanish ladies with their beautiful costumes

A few jugglars and clowns

And it finished with a group of 1920's suffragetes and carriage of three Queens.  Why? who knows, but it was great fun.

It all ended with the bands coming together and playing and drumming at the same time.  Quite deafening and very silly.

We had a great couple of hours out in the sun.  The centre was full of people sitting around eating and drinking and on 8th January.
