We've arrived in Valencia and in our apartment right in the centre. It's taken a couple of days to come down to earth and relax into being here again.
We arrived over Epiphany and the Fiesta of the Three Kings which is a very big celebration in Valencia. In fact they take every opportunity to dress up and party here and do it in style. There is a big children's parade to mark the end of Christmas. Last year I didn't get to see any of it as there was ten layers of fathers with children on their shoulders in front of me, and even if I jumped up and down, I couldn't see anything. This year we could see them parading at the end of the street, from our balcony. Very civilised.
Sorry they are a bit blurred.
The noise of 10,000 squealing children being thrown sweets from the parade was quite amazing and deafening. I can imagine they will be bouncing off the ceilings for about a week afterwards. But at least we could close the windows when it all became too much.
Saturday was a Bank Holiday and most of the shops were closed. So we took ourselves off to rediscover the city and sit around in coffee bars watching the world go by. You do a lot of that here.
It decided to storm in the evening, stair rod rain, thunder and lightening, and luckily we have a craft beer bar just downstairs. Craft beer seems to be the trendy thing to do in Valencia. For 'Craft' take doubling the price, but it was very nice.
